Skiathos natural beauty gives you the opportunity to have always something to do, to have choices. It depends on your mood and lifestyle!

You can choose between the relaxation of the sea or a wild location, which combines green (pines) with crystal blue (sea).

As for wonderers, who want to see inland, they can meet ravines, rivers, scenic trails and cool spots under the shade of an olive tree, a pine or a fig tree (these are the three typical trees in Skiathos island). So many morphological and color contrasts… It’ no coincidence that Skiathos is a photography destination!

 

More than 65 beaches

Indeed, 64 beaches which you can visit and enjoy! Most of the beaches are reminiscent of small coves and stand out for turquoise waters, fine sand and the characteristic white pebbles. Some of them are accessible only by boat, with many ferry tours starting from the old port.

So, if you have a week for Skiathos island and you love exploration, you can visit every day a different beach (fine sand, pebbles, white sand, family- friendly, private, beaches with water sports and facilities for disabled, beach with pines).

  • Lalaria, accessible by boat, with oval stones that resemble an egg
  • Island Tsougkrias opposite of Skiathos port, with the exotic beach and sandy sea
  • Megali Ammos, organized beach near Skiathos Town
  • Agia Eleni, ideal for families
  • Kryfi Ammos, with natural beauty and crystal waters
  • Repi island with the characteristic lighthouse, which dates from 1914
  • Arkos island with its amazing beach
  • Achladies, with fine sand and rich dining options after swimming
  • Aselinos, with coarse sand and pebbles (ideal beach for relaxation)
  • Ksanemos, with deep blue waters
  • Vromolimnos, a sandy beach with crystal clear waters
  • Kastro beach
  • Megas Gialos, a beach with crystal clear waters located in the northern part of Skiathos island, accessible only by sea.
  • Mandraki or Xerxes’ port, with unique waters but also with the interesting story that from there Xerxes, the king of Persia, waited for Mardonius who was coming from the land in order to meet at Thermopylae and coordinate their attacks in Athens and Sparta.

Activities in Skiathos island

Many of Skiathos’ beaches are ideal for water sports such as surfing, kitesurfing, jet ski, water skiing, SUP (ex. Koukounaries, Megali Ammos). One more interesting information, which concerns the lovers of hiking, is that on this island you have the opportunity to enjoy your favorite activity both in mountains and by the sea.

Skiathos is a small (12km και 6 km wide), but rich in natural beauty, island of Aegean in Sporades. Here you can enjoy every sport… Swimming, water sports, hiking (25 marked hiking trails), trekking and more! Recently Skiathos has begun to be also promoted as a “bird- watching” destination.

Interesting routes for walking and hiking are Aselinos- Kounistra Monastery- Mikros Aselinos- Alygaries- Kechria, Agia Eleni- Kryfi Ammos and Xerxis- Elias- Agistros.

Added to the above, Skiathos is really bike- friendly and it has the appropriate infrastructure for cycling. Don’t hesitate to ask us about organized cycling and hiking excursions, that take place in the island, and the recommended paths for a morning or afternoon (sunset hour) cycling.

Bonus info: It’ s also worth choosing one of the best boat trips to the island, but also to the diving center of Alonissos where the first underwater museum in Greece is located.
